Palos Verdes Estates Mid-Century Modern

Palos Verdes Estates, CA

Remodel: 4,886 SF

Date completed: 2018

Originally designed by noted Southern California architects Young & Remington, this classic 1961 post-and-beam residence was sensitively remodeled to surpass its original potential, and become one of the finest examples of Mid-Century Modern architecture on the peninsula.

To highlight the post-and-beam structure’s dramatic pitched roof, and sweeping views across the ocean to Malibu, doors and windows were replaced and enlarged to provide floor-to-ceiling expanses of glass, and allow for a seamless indoor-outdoor flow to the pool area.

A Master Suite featuring a private outdoor patio was created, and bathrooms were updated, with the Master Bathroom doubling in size. An existing small TV room and closet were transformed into an expansive Dressing Room. A storage closet on the first floor was converted into a sleek new Wine Cellar. Selective indoor and outdoor lighting highlights the striking architecture, and allows the largely glass residence to glow like a lantern at night.
